I PURCHASED THESE SHOES IN TAUPE FOR MY MOTHER, WHO IS 93 AND HAS EDEMA. THEY WORK BEAUTIFULLY FOR HER. SHE CAN MANAGE THE STRAP BY HERSELF (AS OPPOSED TO A REGULAR BUCKLE WHICH SHE CAN'T BEND OVER TO OPEN OR CLOSE). THE STRAP IS LONG ENOUGH TO ACCOMMODATE HER FEET EVEN WHEN SEVERELY SWOLLEN.
