My aunt has cerebral palsy and wears slippers all the time. She is able to get these on herself, and they stay on her feet very snug (she drags one foot, impossible to find slippers that stay on) Cannot accurately answer the rest of these questions since I can't compare these to orthodontic shoes...

My wife is a diabetic and has cold feet so the slippers were no only comfortable but kept her feet nice and warm. The slippers were easy to slip on and fit great.
