The Spira WaveWalker Men's Walking Shoe provides a level of cushioning that is second to none. This men's walking shoe incorporates WaveSpring® technology at heel area to minimize shock absorption and gain energy return during the gait cycle. WaveSpring® technology consists of a metal alloy WaveSpring® that is durable, stable and active. The WaveSpring® is designed to not bottom out or breakdown overtime, something that typically happens with other shoes that just have EVA or foam material under the foot - wearers will feel the same cushioning when they reach the 500-mile mark as they did on their first mile wearing the Spira WaveWalker. Wearers will also feel less stress on joints, ligaments and tendons because the WaveSpring® design reduces peak impact forces by up to 20%. Besides its WaveSpring® technology, the WaveWalker comes with a comfortable leather upper, a high grade EVA midsole, and a SpiraGuard™ solid elastomer outsole, which is slip resistant and non-marking. The 5mm molded EVA footbed is removable to accommodate custom orthotics or arch supports. I work in a hospital setting. I average 3 to 5 miles per day on hard tile floor. These are good looking very well made shoes, however, I can not recommend them for a lot of walking. At the end of the day my feet hurt, they never hurt before I stated wearing these shoes. The sole is too thin to stand up to a lot of walking on hard floors. I do not mean to trash these shoes. In an office setting where you might be on your feet a lot they would be fine. I agiain say they are good looking shoes and I am very impressed with the workmanship. I am still wearing them but will purchase another shoe in the near futher. I ordinarily wear a more athletic shoe such a running shoe. I beleive that if the sole was a little thicker they would be a much better walking shoe.
