Shoe Width Measurement Chart
Finding the right shoe width is a bit trickier than finding the right shoe size. For starters, not all manufacturers use the same conventions for width sizing. In addition, it’s not as simple as narrow, medium, and wide widths. There are more than a dozen common widths ranging from super slim to 9X wide. So how do you find your perfect width? We’ve created a shoe width measurement chart and other helpful resources to eliminate the mystery.

Women’s Foot Width Chart
If you haven’t already done so, draw the outline of your foot on a sheet of paper and measure the width at the widest point. Then use that measurement to find your perfect width below. Cross-reference your shoe size and width measurement on the chart to find your ideal width at the top of the column.

Find your ideal shoe width by drawing the outline of your foot and measuring the width at the widest point. Then find the measurement on the chart below in accordance with your shoe size. You’ll find your ideal shoe width at the top of the column.

How to Measure Your Foot Width
Knowing your width takes about two minutes at home. Trace your foot, mark the widest points, and measure across. Then use the Find Your Width tool above or the chart below.
- Gather your tools. A blank piece of paper (tape a few together for larger feet), a pen or pencil, and a flexible measuring tape or ruler.
- Trace your foot. Sit on a chair and place your foot flat on the paper with your weight on it. Hold your pen straight up and down, perpendicular to the paper. Do not tilt it inward or outward. Trace the exact outline of your foot.
- Mark the width. Find the widest parts of your tracing, usually at the ball of your foot right before the toes start. Make a mark at the furthest point on each side.
- Measure the distance. Measure between the two marks in inches or millimeters. Measure both feet, since one is usually slightly larger, and use the larger foot for accuracy.
Understanding width charts
Shoe widths are shown as letters (A, B, C, D, E, EE, and so on). A Medium width is usually a B for women and a D for men. To find your letter, take your standard length size (for example, Men's Size 9), then cross-reference it with your width measurement using the Find Your Width tool above or the Width Sizing Chart below.
