Heel bone spurs and Achilles pain

I was in daily pain caused by poor fitting shoes over the years. I went to a Dr and discovered bone spurs on the back of my heels thus the continued rubbing and discomfort on my Achilles. Surgery was recommended. I discovered these shoes that have the V notch in the back to allow room for my heel back and a strap to tighten to my own comfort level. Since then the pain has totally gone away and I no longer limp about after walking a short distance. I highly recommend these shoes first if you have similar issues. One thing I have noticed is that the upper mesh tends to start to pull apart on the top of the shoe from the side leather after a few months of steady wearing. I believe this is cause from the tight fit as I can wear a 5E but this shoe only comes in a 4E as 6E is too big. Anyhow, I have gone though 8 pairs over the years and my heel area is still pain free.
