If you are not logged into your Shop account, you can proceed through checkout as normal. Here’s what the flow looks like:

    2. Select your shipping method and click Continue to payment
    3. On the payment screen, choose “Truemed – Pay with HSA/FSA”
    4. Click Pay now — you’ll be securely redirected to Truemed

If you don’t see the Truemed option at checkout, double-check that you are not signed into a Shop account.

Important: If you are logged into your Shop account, you must check out as a guest. When logged into Shop, the Truemed option will not appear. During checkout, click “Check out as guest”, then follow the steps above and select “Truemed – Pay with HSA/FSA” as your payment method.

When you choose “Truemed – Pay with HSA/FSA” at checkout, you’ll be guided through a short medical intake process designed to determine eligibility.

Here’s what to expect:

Step 1: Complete a short medical questionnaire

After selecting Truemed at checkout, you’ll answer a brief series of questions about your foot health. These questions are designed to assess whether orthopedic footwear may be medically necessary for you.

You may be asked about:

  • Foot pain or discomfort

  • Diagnosed conditions such as plantar fasciitis, bunions, arthritis, diabetes, or neuropathy

  • Whether your symptoms affect daily activities like walking or standing

  • Prior treatments or recommendations from a medical professional

 

Step 2: Medical review

Your responses are reviewed by a licensed medical provider through Truemed’s platform. This review happens quickly and does not require an in-person appointment.

If your purchase qualifies, a Letter of Medical Necessity is generated to support your HSA/FSA eligibility.

 

Step 3: Pay with your HSA or FSA card

Once approved, you’ll complete your purchase using your HSA or FSA card through Truemed’s secure checkout. In most cases, this allows you to use pre-tax dollars, which typically results in meaningful savings compared to paying with a standard credit card.

 

Step 4: Keep your documentation

Truemed provides documentation associated with your LMN. We recommend saving this for your records in case your HSA or FSA administrator requests it later.
